Welcome to Your Daily Bread podcast. I'm your host, Abbie Stasior, a registered dietician and certified intuitive eating counselor. My prayer is that these bite-sized episodes will help you heal your relationship with food, improve body image, and ultimately help you grow closer to God. Now, I can't personally heal you,
but I'm gonna be directing you to the one that can, and that is Jesus.
Also disclaimer, I'm not a pastor, but a sister in Christ that's offering you some food for thought that you can take into your quiet time with the Lord as your daily bread. Let's dig in.
Hello. Hello. Welcome back to Your Daily Bread podcast, y'all. I am so excited for season three. Thank you all so much for being patient with me. I know we took a couple weeks off, but y'all, I have not taken a week off from podcasting. In the last three years. , we had a little bit of a break between season two and season three, and I am so excited to announce that we are now on video and I am recording for the podcast in person.
Honestly, like all glory to God, [00:01:00] I'm just so excited for this provision for this studio. And if you're currently just listening to the podcast, I invite you to now watch as you listen to the podcast, 'cause we are gonna be putting this on YouTube and also Spotify.
So if you're not currently on YouTube, you can make your way to YouTube. If you're not currently on Spotify, you can make your way to Spotify so that you can watch this as you are listening. I am just so excited. today we're gonna be getting into two Kings 12. And at this point in the Old Testament, they are focused on repairing and restoring the Lord's temple.
And we can draw a lot of parallels to our temple restorations and restoring the health of our bodies because we are temples of the Holy Spirit. So I'm really excited about this episode. And typically at the beginning of the year, people are setting health goals, but they're also setting financial goals too.
So I. Hope that this episode will help you with those financial goals as well, because. Through these scriptures, the Lord highlights what God values and what he wants us to invest in. [00:02:00] So if you wanna be a good steward of your body and also a good steward of your finances, these scriptures can help you with where to direct the money that the Lord has entrusted you with to invest in, in good things for your health.
And this is so timely 'cause we're at the beginning of the year and I know we're in February and you probably set some goals in January, but some people, they invest in stuff in January, they try something and they've already fallen off the wagon by February. So I felt like this was still, a timely episode topic.
So we will get into this.
Ah, father God, we are just so excited and so expectant for season three of the podcast. Lord, thank you for this provision. Lord, thank you for every single listener. We just pray a special blessing, and favor over every single listener, Lord. Thank you for going before us for season three and just creating and cultivating episodes that are going to lead people to find food freedom in you and ultimately draw people closer to you, Lord.
And ah [00:03:00] Lord, set the captives free and heal body image and get rid of shame and condemnation. We are just so expecting for what is to come, Lord. So thank you for going before us and preparing episodes that are going to be. Impactful and lead to more freedom. And Lord, I pray that everything that is said in this episode is what you want to say through me.
I am a vessel for you, Lord. We know that apart from you, we can do nothing have your way, Lord. Take the lead. And I just pray for increased sensitivity to your spirit, as we continue this episode, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. So we're gonna be diving into two Kings 12, and I'm reading from the NLT and it says in verse 11.
Then they gave the money to the construction supervisors who used it to pay the people working on the Lord's temple, the carpenters, the builders, the masons, and the stone cutters. They also used the money to buy the timber and the finished stone needed for repairing the Lord's temple, and they paid any other expenses related to the temple's [00:04:00] restoration.
The money brought to the temple was not used for making silver bowls, lamp snuffers, basins, trumpets, or other articles of gold or silver for the temple of the Lord. It was paid to the workman who used it for temple repairs. No accounting of this money was required the construction supervisors because they were honest and trustworthy men.
That is the word of the Lord. I'm just so grateful that the Lord has been so specific with his word to give us exactly what God values and where we should be putting our money towards when it comes to our temple's restoration. A lot of the times we feel pressure to fix ourselves, especially at the start of the year, and to just whack ourselves into submission and to undo how we ate over the holidays.
But the Lord invites us to build, the Lord cares about restoration, not just patching things up. And we see this highlighted in scripture that. They weren't just patching up the temple, they weren't just giving it a new coat of paint. They weren't just [00:05:00] swapping out the decor, they were getting to the root, they were getting to the foundation and they were really focused on restoration.
So we wanna make sure that with our body, that we're not just doing stuff for aesthetics or doing stuff for, the surface or doing things for adornment, but we're really getting to the root that is going to change your health sustainably. When we look at more specifically what they invested in, what they put their money towards, we see that they put it towards skilled workers, people that God has graced in a specific area to help with a very specific task.
And so we can relate this to our own health. If you have heart problems, you're gonna see a cardiologist, or at least I hope you're gonna see a cardiologist. If you have mental health issues. Hopefully you're working with a Christian therapist. If you have. Issues with nutrition and your relationship with food, then head to the show notes and schedule a free call with me so that you can start working with a Christian dietitian.
You wanna find people that are specialized in a certain area so that they [00:06:00] can use the way that God has graced them, their gifts and talents to help you in a specific area. So just as how God has graced you in certain ways with certain gifts and talents to help other people in your sphere of influence or your ministry or your work, whatever that looks like, God has graced other people that.
Want to help you. And we know that when God does something when he wants to help us, he sends people. We see this with Jesus that when we needed saving, God sent a person. The word became flesh, and he took on the role of a servant. We see this in Philippians two, that Jesus left his throne in heaven came down to earth.
Took on the form of a human body, became a servant, and died for us. So when we need saving, when we need help, God normally does it through his people and he sends a person.
So I really wanna encourage you all this year to find skilled workers that are specialized in a certain area to help you with what you need help with for your health. And I just encourage you to be spirit led about that.
Lord, lead me to the right [00:07:00] provider. Lord, help me to find honest and trustworthy providers because it says that these were honest and trustworthy men. So you just wanna go willy-nilly to any provider you wanna be spirit led about it so that you can go to the right person that's going to help you for your health and also pray on the timing.
Lord, if you're inviting me to start going to therapy or start seeing a dietitian, or find a new primary care doctor or a personal trainer, whatever that looks like, Lord, lead me to the right person and is now the right season for me to book an appointment. And the Lord will guide you in all of that.
We see that when we don't do this and we're not prayerful and we invest in the wrong things, that things go awry. In Isaiah 17 verses 10 through 11. It says, you have turned from the God who can save you. You have forgotten the rock who can hide you. You may plant the finest grapevines and import the most expensive seedlings.
They may sprout on the day you set them out. Yes, they may blossom on the very morning. You plant them. You will [00:08:00] never pick any grapes from them. Your only harvest will be a load of grief and unrelieved pain.
Oh boy, that does not sound good. But how often do we do that? Do we invest in things that seem good on the surface?
It even says here, Hey, these were the finest grape fines and the most expensive seedlings. How often do we invest in really expensive supplements? Do we invest in really expensive coaching programs or meal plan programs or personal trainers? You get results very quickly, but it doesn't actually bear good fruit.
It is worth noting that not everything that leads to a result is leading to good fruit. And Jesus says in Matthew seven 16 that you will know them by their fruits. That's what God uses as a metric for success, is if it is bearing good fruit.
So if how you're stewarding your body, what tools you're using to steward your body, if it's not leading to the fruits of the spirit, which you can see that in Galatians five.
If it's not leading to the fruit of the spirit, then that's not success in the eyes of the Lord. That's not [00:09:00] fruitful in the eyes of the Lord. And what you may be reaping may be a load of grief and unrelieved pain.
And how often have we invested in quick fixes and things in the past that have led to a load of grief and unrelieved, pain versus peace and joy and gentleness and kindness and, all of the fruits of the spirit.
So you may be investing in really expensive things, but it actually doesn't mean that it's going to be fruitful and the word warns us against, investing in things that are just for adornment or aesthetics like the Silver Bulls and the Snuffers, and the basins and the trumpets, and all of these things for aesthetics.
God's Word points us to what God values. And God values stability and sustainability because not only did they invest in the skilled workers, but they also invested in materials that were gonna stand the test of time, the finished stone in the timber, things that were gonna contribute to the foundation.
So what are you investing in for your health that is actually contributing to a stable and sustainable way of living and [00:10:00] stewarding your body?
it's important to really examine that and partner with the Holy Spirit on those investments so that you're prayerful about it and you're not just planning to do something. We always wanna pray before we plan.
So I pray that this was helpful for you and gives you some good things to take into your quiet time with the Lord as you're discerning what to do for your health and what or who to invest in.
