Welcome to Your Daily Bread podcast. I'm your host, Abbie Stasior, a registered dietitian and certified intuitive eating counselor. My prayer is that these bite-sized episodes will help you heal your relationship with food and improve body image, as well as help you grow closer to God. Now, I can't personally heal you, but each week I'll be directing you to the one that can, and that is Jesus. As a disclaimer, I'm not a pastor, but a sister in Christ providing you with some food for thought for you to bring to the Lord and into your quiet time as your daily bread. Let's dig in.
Merry. Merry Christmas everyone. I am. So overjoyed to be putting out an episode the day before Christmas. Merry Christmas Eve. This is so special. I felt really called to make this a Lectio Davina episode and we haven't done one in a while. We have one earlier in season two, but it's been. Several months since [00:01:00] we have done Lectio Davina episode.
So I'm so excited for you to listen to this and meditate on scripture. Lectio Davina means divine reading or divine scripture, and this is the spiritual practice that teaches you how to meditate on scripture and connect with the Lord's heart in and through His word. So I'm really excited to be reading a verse out of Luke this morning, I always try and read the Gospel of Luke in December.
I love that it has 24 chapters, so it lines up with 24 days. I don't know if anybody else does that too. . So as I'm going through this, I'm gonna read this a couple times and I'm gonna ask some different questions than what I've asked on previous Lectio Davina episodes with, with each reading.
'cause the point of Lectio Davina is you are supposed to read , the scripture. Not too many verses, but a good chunk of scripture. Couple verses. Several times, at least four times through, and give yourself some silence in between the read throughs to really [00:02:00] sit with that, soak in that, and ask the Lord different questions with each read through, so that he's ministering to you through it, and the words are leaping out off the page.
So as we're reading through, I want you to be listening for, okay, what is the word or phrase, or what's the verse that's standing out what does the Lord have for me today? And I want you to think about what is the Lord saying to you through these words. What is God revealing about himself through this? What is he telling you about your own life? And then with each read through, I want you to be thinking about how is your heart responding to God?
Father God, thank you so much for this advent season, this Christmas season. Lord, we are just so grateful, God, that you have always had a plan to reconcile us back to you through your son Jesus. Thank you Lord for this great sacrifice. Thank you for giving us your son Jesus. To be fully man, fully God, [00:03:00] and to come down off of the throne to humble himself for humanity, to be like, man, so that we could be like him.
Jesus a tangible sign, of your heart so that we can see God in in the flesh and really feel your heart, your compassion, your mercy for us and your love for us.
We are just so grateful. Lord, I pray that this reading ministers to every single person listening and that there is something. In this scripture, in these passages for every single person, and I pray that it changes us from the inside out. Thank you, holy Spirit, for resting on me and working through me.
Have your way. We love you, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Luke 1 68 to 75.
I'm gonna pause between each read through for a little bit so you can sit in silence and hear from the Lord. [00:04:00] What does he want you to grasp onto? What about this is for you this holiday season? What do you need to hear? And if you need more time between each read through, you can always pause the episode.
Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel because he has come to his people and redeemed them. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he said through his holy prophets long ago, salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant.
The oath he swore to our father, Abraham, to rescue us from the hand of our enemies. And to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness [00:05:00] before him all our days.
Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel because he has come to his people and redeemed them. Salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant.

. Listen for what the Lord is inviting you into, what is he telling you about your own life. What is he revealing about himself?

the word of the Lord, y'all. I hope everyone has a great Christmas. I hope that this blessed you and that there was something in there. For you, even just if it was a reminder that Jesus has come to his people, has come down to us to redeem us, and this enables us to serve him. And we don't need to have fear because he makes us holy.
He makes us righteous so we can serve him uninhibited. And we do this with him, for him and in him. Praise God. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and I will see y'all in the new [00:08:00] year.
