[00:00:00] Keep seeking him. Keep him at the center. And you will be okay. He's not gonna lead you astray. And if you're kind of checking these boxes, am I able to rest? Is it worship? Is unto the Lord? Am I praising him during it? Is this leading to more delight in the Lord? Do I delight in what I'm doing? Then you're on the right track.
hello. Hello. Welcome back to your Daily Bed podcast. We are picking up with our [00:01:00] Luke series. Father God, thank you so much for the stay Lord. Thank you for the breath in our lungs Lord. Thank you for our health. Thank you for what you have already delivered us from and healed us from Lord. Give us the strength, renew our strength to be able to continue running the race that you have set before us. Lord, I pray that as we continue to dive into the series in this episode, that it renews people's minds so that we can discern what your good pleasing and perfect will is. Lord, I pray that people know. That you are here for them and that you love them, and they truly just receive it to their heart and know that they know that they know how much you love for them and care for them, and that you want to partner with every single listener on this journey with their health, Lord.
And I pray that this just leads to greater intimacy and a stronger relationship, more genuine relationship with you, Jesus. And I just pray that everything that is said in [00:02:00] this episode is. What you want to say, Lord. Thank you for using me as a vessel, Holy Spirit. I pray that you just rest on me and work through me and do what only, only you could do.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen. All right. Luke 13 verse 10 says, on a Sabbath, Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for 18 years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.
Then he put his hands on her and immediately she straightened up and praised God. Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath. The synagogue leaders said to the people, there are six days for work, so come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath. The Lord answered him, you [00:03:00] hypocrites, doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?
Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for 18 long years be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her when he said this, all his opponents were humiliated. But the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing. Praise God, y'all, Jesus was such a boss.
Honestly, Jesus ate with that. I'm not gonna lie, like Jesus is such a boss and it's so true, and I just love how much dignity he gave back this woman who was probably ostracized in society at this time. Number one, for being a woman. Number two, for having this infirmity for 18 years. It's giving the woman with the issue of blood.
Because [00:04:00] she had that for 12 years. Like it's just, oh my goodness. And he just gave her so much back. Not just calling her a woman, but saying, you are a daughter. You are a daughter. There's just so much redemption here and, and it's so good. I am in a season right now personally, where the Lord has called me to lock in.
He's called me to ramp up in a couple different areas of my life. I am in the middle of writing a book. I'm so excited. If you didn't see on my Instagram, I just solidified a book deal with Nelson Books, which is under Thomas Nelson, which is under Harper Collins Christian, which is under Harper Collins, and I am so, so grateful. It's gonna take a little bit for the book to be written and edited and all the things.
So I appreciate the prayers along the journey and your patience in the journey as well. But this book is for. You and I am just, I'm so excited for all the transformation that's gonna happen with this book, but I really gotta lock in with writing it. And [00:05:00] I am also being called to lock in, ramp up. I don't know if ramp up is exactly the right word, but be more intentional with the consistency of.
My healthy habits and specifically with how that relates to exercise. And for those of you that have listened to my testimonial episode, which is in season one of the podcast, you'll know that I have a history of excessive exercise. And so I've really been praying through, Lord, how do I ramp up these routines?
Especially when it comes to exercise and be more consistent without getting disordered again, where it becomes obsessive and restrictive, and an idol truly. And how do I really hone in and lock in on this work without hustling or striving in my own strength? And the Lord brought me to this scripture, which is all about the Sabbath.
The Lord was saying to me, he's like, Abby, what do you do on your Sabbath days? And I said, Lord, I rest.
I worship and I delight. Everything I do in my Sabbaths falls into one of those categories. [00:06:00] And he said, okay, that's what I want you to do in this season. And that's going to be your gauge for
how you are approaching your healthy habits to ensure that you are not falling back into old patterns or disordered habits or disordered ways. And I'm like. Oh, that's so good. And he's like, yes. Everything you do should be worship as unto me very much. You know, one Corinthians 10 31. Whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for the glory of God.
Everything is done with intention, in worship with God at the center, in God in mind. Not doing things for selfish motives or selfish reasons. Everything the Lord said should be delightful. You should enjoy the type of exercise that you're doing. You should enjoy how you're moving your body. You should delight in the food that you're eating, delight in the people that you're eating with.
Nothing should feel forced. Nothing should feel like an obligation. Nothing should feel like a punishment. Everything should be worship and delight, and he said. You have to be able to rest. You have to have rhythms of [00:07:00] work and rest. So definitely keep the Sabbath holy. That's the fourth commandment outta the 10 Commandments.
So keep to the Sabbath, but also you have to be able to rest. So if you're working out so much that you can't take a break, that you can't let yourself rest and recover, you're exercising too much. And I said, okay, that's good. So he said, follow that as a guide. And then obviously he's like, Abby, you have my spirit with you guiding you.
You don't have to be afraid. I am guiding you, and he said, Abby, remember where your safety comes from and your protection comes from. Psalm 63 says that he holds us securely in his right hand, so I'm safe. I don't have to work so hard to protect myself from falling back into disordered habits in old ways because the Lord is protecting me and keeping me safe.
He is my refuge. He is my fortress.
He has come to set the captives free and he has come to give us life and life to the full. And Jesus doesn't care if it's on the Sabbath or not. He's gonna set you free. So if we look at this scripture, it says on the Sabbath, which Sabbath, [00:08:00] some other translations mean to like cease work.
So that is our rest component. And then verse 13, it says, then when he put his hands on her and immediately she straightened up and praised God. That's worship. And then at the end, verse 17 says, when he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted were all the wonderful things he was doing.
That's delight. So this scripture has those three things. It has rest, it has worship. And it has delight. So good. So I just pray that this will be a good gauge for you, a good checklist for you if you are looking to be more intentional about your routines. I see this a lot with clients that I've worked with that have done some work on healing their relationship with food.
They've been doing the intuitive eating thing for a bit, and they're like, okay, I really have made peace with food. Like when we look at First [00:09:00] Corinthians. 10 23. Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. We've talked about this verse before many times on the podcast, you have to reach a place where everything is permissible.
You have peace around all foods. Then you partner with the Holy Spirit to discern what's best for you. And there's people that are really ready to get back to a consistent exercise routine, but they don't wanna do it in a way that's disordered and, and they have a fear. But the Lord has not called you to a spirit of fear. So remember that. Don't worry about what you're going to eat or drink or what you'll wear, Matthew 6 25 through 34.
Keep seeking him. Keep him at the center. And you will be okay. He's not gonna lead you astray. And if you're checking these boxes, am I able to rest? Is it worship? Is unto the Lord? Am I praising him during it? Is this leading to more delight in the Lord? Do I delight in what I'm doing?
Then you're on the right track. This framework with rest, worship, and delight, also coupled with the fruits of the spirit. That's a [00:10:00] good gauge so if you were in a season where you were ready to ramp up, if you were ready to lock in, if you were ready to be more intentional about certain habits, but in the back of your mind, the enemy's whispering to you like, oh, you can't do that.
Oh, you're gonna fall back into old ways. Oh, this is gonna just be like last time. No, no, no. It doesn't have to be. It doesn't have to be. You are a new creation in Christ. You have grown since then. You are not the same person that you were. You do not have the same relationship with God or the same relationship with who that you did then.
This time can be different because you're not striving in your own strength to protect yourself. You have the Lord protecting you. So trust in that and trust in him and partner with him. Do things with him, and he's not gonna lead you astray. And if you need help with this, extra help with this in healing your relationship with food and trying to discern what habits are right for you and you just need more accountability or more personalized support, or you're kind of at the beginning of this where you're like, oh, I haven't reached a place in my healing journey where I [00:11:00] can do that. I still have foods that aren't safe. I need to make peace with all foods. It could be a good time to work with a registered dietician specifically for Christians.
